Description

Hunting Creek includes a special enclave of townhomes in the southwest quadrant of Old Town. On a block rarely traveled by outside cars, the owners enjoy their front yards with family and friends as much as they do their rear yards. Although located within blocks of the George Washington Parkway, I95 and a multitude of shops and restaurants, this charming townhome offers a welcome respite from the busy world.

A short walkway from the street leads to a sunny brick patio at the front of the home. The inviting front door, flanked by new exterior lighting, features a Palladian arch window of stained glass. Entering the home, the foyer with coat closet leads to a living room with gas fireplace and east-facing bay window. White wood blinds, crown moulding and hardwood floors carry through to the spacious dining area and kitchen.

The kitchen was renovated in 2015 to include a quartz countertop with beveled edge, chosen to complement many color palates, subway tile backsplash and white cabinetry with custom cubbies. The stainless-steel appliances include a bottom mount refrigerator, gas stove and white paneled dishwasher as well as a farm-size sink and champagne faucet. An extra lighting package is perfect for cooking and enjoying a meal or glass of wine at the eat-in counter.  A half bath in the hall includes a new pedestal sink and marble flooring.

The stairway runner leads to the upper level and features three bedrooms and two full baths, rare for Old Town townhomes built in the 1930’s-1950’s. The hall bath, which services two charming bedrooms, includes updated white cabinetry, a marble floor and a new vanity. The two bedrooms have crown moulding and ceiling fans and one includes built-in drawer organizers in the closet. A linen closet and attic access are located in the hall.

The master suite with ceiling fan features a large, deep closet with built-in drawer organizers and a master bathroom with marble floors, oversized shower, a new vanity and additional cabinetry.

The lower level has had extensive updating over the last year. A room with tile floor, extra lighting and sliding doors leading to the washer and dryer, sink, white cabinetry and utilities has been renovated as has the modern full bath with shower and pedestal sink complemented by a tile floor and over-sized subway tile surround. The large family room with extra lighting and warm carpet features over-sized windows and a door to the exterior of the home. From family room with den, office, guest room or au-pair suite, the inclusion of the newly renovated full bath and finished room allow for a variety of uses!  Under stair storage space provides plenty of extra storage.

A door from the family room leads to the fenced rear yard with brick patio and a brick/slate walkway leads to two private parking spaces and a large storage shed outside of the back gate.

Besides the obvious upgrades to the home, the home features a security system. The water heater was replaced in 2012 and the compressor and air handler were replaced in 2018. There are two sump pumps, one with back-up battery in the rear of the home and a second sump pump is in the front of the home.

With an east/west exposure, this light filled home and the exterior patios provide for a wealth of space for both entertaining and quiet enjoyment!

King Street Metro

The King Street Metro community is located at the bottom of Shooter’s Hill, between the Braddock Road Metro station and the Eisenhower Avenue Station. Until 1991, when the Blue Line was expanded to Van Dorn Street, only the Yellow Line served the community. Today, the King Street Metro community is accessible on both the Blue and Yellow Lines.

Quality of Life:

The King Street Metro community is predominantly composed of commercial office buildings and several mid to high-rise apartment complexes. There are older townhouses along Harvard and Peyton Streets, and a mix of old and new townhouses on West and Prince Streets.

King Street Metro means convenience. Without saying too much, residents in the King Street Metro community have unprecedented access to metro rail. King Street is seconds away, as well as its numerous restaurants. Take a walk down towards the heart of Old Town for a visit to The Old Town Theatre or The Lyceum. Stop by the Butcher’s Block for fresh meats and The Fromagerie for cheese. Whole Foods is right around the corner.

Getting Around:

Forgive us for repeating ourselves. From the King Street Metro community one can easily find their way to the King Street Metro station. The streets of Old Town are easily navigable by car. I-495 is less than five minutes away. Head north on the G.W. Parkway for a ten-minute drive to D.C. Two Metro stops to Reagan National Airport.

Airports:

Ronald Reagan National Airport:  < 6 miles.
Washington-Dulles International Airport:  < 30 miles.
